Raising Awareness of Mental Health Issues

Since Corona virus hit over a year ago and the country went into a national pandemic with ongoing lockdowns, we have all faced extremely hard challenges, both mentally and physically. Whether that’s losing a loved one, being made redundant or even watching someone you know struggle, it has affected us all in some way. No one is alone. No one should ever be alone, which is why it is so important to continue working to help spread awareness of mental health issues and keep talking!

5 key pillars to improving mental health: Modelled by the New Economics Foundation, they’re geared around themes of social connectedness, physical activity, awareness, learning, and giving.
1.      Connect
2.      Be active
3.      Take notice
4.      Keep learning
5.      Give

We as a company, decided to do a Raffle prize draw to help raise some money for mental health awareness. The money will go to the charity MIND, who do amazing work in helping those who are suffering! For more information please visit MINDUK

Mental health is not hidden anymore; it’s on the front pages; it’s on the political agenda; it’s spoken about by royalty. For millions of people, mental health is now something to be honest about – not ashamed of!

What is WEEE Waste?

WEEE waste stands for waste electrical and electronic equipment and it categorized as any form of unwanted electrical or electronic waste such as monitors, cabling or wiring, peripherals and computers etc.

Why recycle WEEE?

Currently in the UK we are producing a large amount of WEEE waste and as corona-virus continues to take its toll and lockdowns are put in place this amount is increasing. All electrical appliances can contain toxic substances in the form of heavy metals or chemicals that are considered a hazard to health. By recycling WEEE the base materials are recovered and is then diverted from landfill because when WEEE waste is dumped to landfill and left to decay, the toxins will slowly release which in turn contaminates our drinking water and earths soil.

WEEE recycling is a law in Europe and it states that everyone must dispose of their e-waste in a responsible manner. Ensuring homes and businesses recycle, reuse or recover e-waste before disposal.

Here at Recycling Management collections are scheduled at the start of every month and the process repeats. Our flat-bed vehicles and drivers are ADR registered, which means that your hazardous materials are safe to be collected by us. Please get in contact with a member of our team today to organise a collection or to be quoted.

Here at Recycling Management we buy all grades of Ferrous metals, whether it is commercial or household.

Ferrous metals have magnetic properties; Wrought iron, carbon steel, mild steel, cast iron and stainless steel are considered ferrous metals, known for their durability and tensile strength. Due to these properties, some common places where ferrous metals are used are skyscrapers, shipping containers, railroad tracks, long bridges, industrial piping, and automobiles.

RECYCLED PLASTICS

The plastics industry has rapidly grown over the last few decades and the need for waste management has increased aggressively. Nearly 350 million tonnes of plastic are produced each year, world-wide. Packaging of produce such as bottles make up for 40 percent of the plastic produced which most of the time ends up in landfills.

Some of the advantages to recycling plastics are conservation of energy, saves petroleum, reduction in CO2 emissions and saves rubbish tip space which in turn help to keep our air and water clear.

TYPES OF COMMON PLASTICS?

Whether it is Polystyrene (PS), Polypropylene (PP), Low-density polyethene (LDPE), Plasticised Polyvinyl chloride or polyvinyl chloride (PVC), High-density polyethene (HDPE), Polyethylene terephthalate (PET), all plastic can be difficult to recycle.

THE RECYCLING PROCESS

A simple recycling process consists of stages like collecting, sorting, shredding, cleaning and palletising.  The type of process used to recycle plastics depends on the types of plastic and also the resin code it obtains; differentiated by numerical classification 1-7. Keeping in mind, not all plastics are recyclable. For example, PET has the highest recycling value where as some form of Polystyrene and other plastics such as acrylic and plastic bags may not be able to be recycled due to high risk of clogging processing machinery and is therefore not economically or environmentally effective.

USING PLASTIC WASTE SPECIALISTS

Making sure that plastics are in the hands of a professional service ensures the process is done in an efficient and effective manner. Here at Recycling Management we are able to work with you to create an effective custom build recycling solution which is eco-friendly and efficient. FULLY  OPERATIONAL

We have administration staff working remotely from home, supporting customers and our  Recycling Plants are operational as KEY workers. Operating with the required “social distancing” measures.

*Should your envisage the need for support/collections in the next few weeks/months we would like to help

  • Minimising environmental impact and reduction to landfill.
  • Extensive range of collection options from small skips to 40cu yard Roll/on/off containers to nationwide bulkers.
  • Operating our own facilities allows us to control our pricing and gives you the client a much better return for their scrap metals.

Due to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, we are facing a truly unprecedented situation. The global coronavirus pandemic is affecting all of our families, our businesses, our communities, and our way of life. During this time, I want to reach out and update you on how we’re approaching the situation at RML.

First and foremost, our hearts go out to anyone who’s been impacted by the virus, either

directly or indirectly. Our thoughts are especially with those who are sick, to whom we extend our heartfelt wishes for a full recovery. We are truly inspired by the selfless healthcare workers around the world who are on the front lines working tirelessly to care for people in need.

We are still in operation and servicing all our customers, we will keep you posted with further changes as and when they occur

We are following Government and Public Health England advice and measures have been taken to ensure the health and wellbeing of our staff, customers and suppliers is maintained.

All of our employees are an important part of our working family and many of our employees will typically be working remotely with our customers through digital channels as much as possible. We hope this shift will be relatively smooth and we will continue to deliver the highest levels of performance, availability, and service.

Whilst we deal with this pandemic, all our businesses are in uncharted territory. Recycling Management’s commitment to your success during this unprecedented period is stronger than ever. Our company was founded on core values – trust, customer success and innovation to provide you with an exemplary service.

We have amazing staff, we’re called upon to be our best selves, with patience, understanding and compassion. On behalf of all of us in RML we’re committed to being your partner and to persevere together in all the days and years ahead.

As we go forward, we’ll be sure to keep you updated, and know that we always value your questions, ideas and feedback.

If you have queries on any of the above then please feel free to call us:

0121 328 5000 or email your account manager we will be sure to look after you.

*PLEASE if we could ask you to update us on any closures, or reduced production so that our services levels are fit for your purpose.

Please be advised that from Monday 23rd March 2020 we will be changing the way that we interact with your drivers
delivering materials to our site, along with skip services on site when we are either delivering/exchanging/collecting containers.
Our drivers normally have printed tickets and generally work alone. Driver and office staff interactions will be limited as much as
we are able to during working operations.
The printed tickets that our staff use require a customer to handle the document and this constitutes a health hazard risk to
both our employees and the customer representative.
Therefore, for the period of the pandemic the driver will not hand the ticket to the customer.
Our employees will stand approximately 2 metres from the customer representative and will take the customer’s name. The driver
will write the customer’s name onto the document on the customers behalf, our employee will then write in the customers
signature box “COVID-19”. A scanned copy of these documents will be sent with your invoice on a daily / weekly basis to the
relevant email address we hold for you.
Prompt payment would be extremely appreciated to enable us to continue with our high level of
service and supporting our workforce during these unprecedented times.

If you wish these documents to be sent to any other email address for each load, please email info@recman.com
The above procedure is being implemented for the safety of all concerned.

Please be assured however that we will work with our supply chain through these unprecedented times to ensure that your Waste

Transfer Notes are completed as thoroughly as possible whilst observing safe social distancing measures.

Thanks for your co-operation in this matter.

In most cases we have been serviced well. Lee is and has always been very quick to respond to any of our issues.
